John and Carol Waite, of What Cheer, will note their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at Hilltop Chapel, 506 E. Briney St., What Cheer.

The couple married July 16, 1959.

The former Carol Dalziel and John Waite exchanged vows at the Central Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Rueben Tjaden presiding.

Hosts of the event are their six children and spouses: Jim and Kendra Van Dyke, South English; John Waite, Oskaloosa; Karen Straube, Sigourney; Kelly Waite, Gilberts, Ill.; Burt and Kris Schwab, Elgin, Ill.; and Jason and Cherlyn Waite, Oskaloosa. They have 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
