CENTERVILLE —
An Appanoose County man was sent to state prison for a controlled substance conviction.
Michael Lee Adams, 30, of Centerville, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, a fine and credit for any time served by Judge Annette J. Scieszinski in the Appanoose County Courthouse courtroom on July 24 after he had entered on May 29 a voluntary, negotiated guilty plea to the charge of controlled substance violation, a class C felony, delivery of OxyContin.
The offense date was Aug. 11, 2011.
A second count of controlled substance violation, a class C felony, delivery of OxyContin, was dismissed by the court on July 24. The offense date for that charge was July 8, 2011.
According to the criminal complaint filed Oct. 14, 2011 by an officer with the Centerville Police Department, Adams twice at 206 1/2 W. Van Buren St. in Centerville delivered prescription OxyContin medication to a confidential informant working with the South Central Iowa Drug Task Force. The transaction was controlled with mobile, stationary and audio surveillance by SCIDTF members.
Adams owes the state $3,769.50 for this case.
