'Summer Shorts' return to Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD — Bloomfield seems to like its shorts.

The Davis County Fine Arts Festival debuted the "Summer Shorts Festival" two years ago. It's back this weekend, with seven plays scheduled for performance.

This year's event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Theatre in Bloomfield.

The idea for the festival is deceptively simple: Each play must be a one-act performance that lasts between five minutes and 15 minutes. This year's plays focus on the theme, "It's Over."

The audience has a role to play in 2012. Those who watch will be asked to vote for their favorite play. The top playwright will receive a $100 prize.

This year's lineup:

“On The Seventh Day” by Greg Freier of Norwalk

“In The Dark” by Tom Deiker of Clive

“He’s Mine” by Brittany Derby and Zack Musgrove of Bloomfield

“Goodnight, Officer Byrn” by Leah Howk of Bloomfield

“Twilight Time” by William S.E. Coleman of Des Moines

“Before The I Do’s” by Michelle Williams of Bloomfield

“Two-Run Triple” by James Grob of Bloomfield
