Oklahoma authorities in huge marijuana bust

ADA, Okla. — About 6,000 high-quality marijuana plants, worth an estimated $9 million on the street, were seized in a raid Monday. It was described as one of the largest marijuana growing operations ever uncovered in Oklahoma.

The seizure took place in a rural area about 15 miles north of Ada. It involved the work of a multi-agency task force that had received a tip about two weeks ago.

No arrests have been made, but evidence was seized from three different camp sites near the patches, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics spokesman Mark Woodward said.

“At this point, we can’t confirm any ties to the drug cartels, but this large operation near Ada certainly has many similarities to cartel patches we’ve seized in recent years,” he said.
