Man drowns near Pella

PELLA — A Des Moines man drowned in Marion County over the weekend.

Dean Allen Hoganson was found floating face down Saturday in Roberts Creek after a 911 call to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. The caller said there was an unattended boat with a male floating nearby.

Emergency responders found Hoganson and brought him back to shore. He was pronounced dead at the scene after resucitation efforts failed.

An autopsy is scheduled with the State Medical Examiner’s Office, in Ankeny.  No foul play is suspected, though the case remains under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
