Question of the Week

January 4, 2010

Question of the Week: Do you think 2010 will be better than 2009?

OSKALOOSA — By a more than 2-1 margin, those readers who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: Do you plan to make a New Year’s resolution and kept it? said NO.

Seven — 26.92 percent — answered YES while 19 — 73.08 percent said NO.

The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with the outlook for 2010.

The latest AP-GfK poll found that 82 percent of respondents are optimistic about the prospects for their families in 2010. Some 72 percent of Americans said they’re optimistic about what 2010 will bring for the country.

The optimism clashes with other findings in the poll such as almost two-thirds believe their family finances will worsen and fewer than half foresee the economy improving in 2010, the Associated Press reported.

The poll found that nearly three-fourths of Americans think 2009 was a bad year for the country, which was rocked by job losses, home foreclosures and economic sickness. Forty-two percent rated it “very bad,” the AP reported.

Will things turn around in the new year?

What do you think?
