Question of the Week: Do you suport the use of marijuana as medicine?

OSKALOOSA — A vast majority of those readers who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: What part of Super Bowl XLIV was better? The game or the commercials? said THE GAME.

Twenty-five — 64.10 percent — answered THE GAME while 14 — 35.90 percent — said THE COMMERCIALS.

The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with the use of medicinal marijuana.

The Iowa Board of Pharmacy is expected to vote Wednesday on whether to recommend to the Iowa Legislature that marijuana be used as medicine, the Associated Press reported.

A Des Moines Register poll of 805 Iowans conducted by Selzer & Co. from Jan. 31-Feb. 3 showed that 64 percent of Iowans think that medicinal marijuana should be allowed, under a doctor’s supervision. Thirty-three percent of respondents opposed it and 3 percent were uncertain.

Supporters contend that marijuana can relieve pain and nausea in cancer patients, and those afflicted with AIDS or multiple sclerosis, the AP reported.
