OSKALOOSA — By a vast majority, those readers who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: Will state budget problems come back to haunt lawmakers? said YES.
Eighteen — 81.82 percent — answered YES while four — 18.18 percent — said NO.

This week’s Question of the Week deals with reorganizing Iowa’s state government to help balance the budget.
State lawmakers are debating government reform as a way to balance the state budget. A draft of the plan includes merging computer systems, consolidating purchasing and combining state agencies, the Associated Press reported.
The budget shortfall could range from $400 million to $1 billion.
If passed, the reorganization plan would work in conjunction with an early retirement plan for state workers favored by Gov. Chet Culver that would save up $60 million.
Will this be enough to turn things around?
