OSKALOOSA — By a more than 2-1 ratio, the readers who answered this past week’s Question of the Week: Would closing Guantanamo Bay detention center compromise our security? said YES.
Thirty-two — 68.09 percent — answered YES while 15 — 31.91 percent — said NO.
The Question of the Week poll is not scientific and only reflects the opinions of those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The Question of the Week is just another way the Herald’s readers can voice their opinions about issues that affect them.
This week’s Question of the Week deals with Michael Jackson’s legacy.
The King of Pop passed away Thursday at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles and people around the world are mourning his death. The Associated Press reported that even Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Jackson’s death was “lamentable news,” then he criticized the media for giving it so much attention.
Jackson was famous even as a child singing with the Jackson 5 but really hit superstardom in the early 1980s with “Thriller.” Jackson influenced the music scene with his singing, dance moves such as the “moonwalk” and his signature one white glove.
While he was king of the music world, fame and fortune also brought out Jackson’s eccentric side. He had many forms of plastic surgery done throughout the years. He was reclusive on his Neverland ranch and he was tried and acquitted on child molestation charges in 2005.
Will he be remembered for his music or the tabloid headlines?
What do you think?
This week’s Question of the Week: Will Michael Jackson be remembered for music or weird stuff?
