LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Carroll a hard worker, leader, lawmaker says
Letter to the editor:
There are several good reasons to support Danny Carroll for State Representative in the upcoming election of November 7th. Danny is a hard working legislator and state leader. He has served for the past four years as Speaker Pro-tem, the third ranking member in the Iowa House of Representatives. Danny is a committed father and husband, co-owner of Carroll’s Pumpkin Farm and a veteran lawmaker.
Members of both parties in the legislature look to Representative Carroll for advice in managing difficult legislation.
One of the more important reasons to vote for Danny Carroll is because he is genuinely PRO LIFE and his opponent, Eric Palmer is NOT. Eric Palmer defends the practice of abortion on demand and has promoted himself, particularly in the Grinnell area, as Pro-Choice. In fact, the Grinnell college student newspaper in a recent interview stated, “Palmer supports abortion rights and civil unions between gay couples ...”
Danny Carroll has a proven record of defending life by supporting a “woman’s right to know” legislation, statistical reporting of abortions and by voting to ban partial birth abortions. He spear-headed a very important vote taken in the House in 2005. The resolution passed by the House would place language in the state constitution defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman. As a fellow legislator, I have worked with Representative Carroll on many issues. His views reflect the traditional family values of the people of House District 75 and I hope they will send him back to Des Moines so he can continue to serve as the outstanding representative he has in the past several years.
Betty DeBoef
State Representative House District 76

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: William Penn ‘Triple C’ radio host excellent student leader
I am writing to express my support for Nik Rule, host of Triple C on William Penn University’s KIGC radio station. Although the students went a little too far in their public criticism of Dr. Veerasamy on the April 11th Triple C radio show, there were no intentionally racist remarks or sounds.
