Letter to the editor:
Did anyone notice the irony of the article on the front page of the Des Moines Register yesterday? The Iowa legislature is trying to come up with tax incentives to lure an unnamed company to the Council Bluffs area. After reading the number of jobs that they might bring, and the potential payroll, it became obvious we already have a much better company located in Oskaloosa: Musco Lighting. Musco is not asking for any special tax incentives or considerations for their proposed expansion, they just want a little cooperation and teamwork,. However, some of our city leaders would rather keep putting up road blocks along the way. At Monday night’s city council meeting, Councilman Jimmy Carter even subtly insinuated that Musco was not capable of adequately lighting our downtown square for the streetscaping project. That is like the Redmond, WA city council telling Bill Gates that they don’t feel Microsoft is capable of designing their city’s computer software. This kind of attitude is absurd. We need to embrace Musco and encourage its continued commitments to our community. Now is a critical time to let our city leaders know that we must strongly support Musco’s efforts in Mahaska County. Make your voices heard by contacting your local representatives and please attend or watch the City Council meetings to make sure that a few people aren’t trying to force Musco out of town.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: William Penn ‘Triple C’ radio host excellent student leader
I am writing to express my support for Nik Rule, host of Triple C on William Penn University’s KIGC radio station. Although the students went a little too far in their public criticism of Dr. Veerasamy on the April 11th Triple C radio show, there were no intentionally racist remarks or sounds.
