LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Writer gives facts about William Penn radio show

Letter to the editor:

Aiyanna Looney is correct in her letter to the editor published April 19th, 2007, that “freedom of speech is valued in America,” but that freedom comes with a responsibility. When freedom of speech is used to twist the truth and leave out important facts as Miss Looney has to support one’s view, it can become slanderous.

There was nothing prejudicial done during the April 11th, 2007 radio program awarding a William Penn Professor “ The Primitive Politician Award” defined on the show as someone who blindly follows partisan views. The award was also given to Senator John Kerry during the same segment of the show. A fact that Miss Looney conveniently left out of her letter to the editor.

The noises in question were caveman soundbits recorded for the show to tie in with the primitive politician moniker. The soundbits were played after each inductees name was announced. The students doing the program were guilty of nothing but possibly naivety.

The real story here is a difference of political opinion. Miss Looney when disagreed with shouts political incorrectness, which in the case of the William Penn radio show is just empty accusations.
