LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to MCG for e-cycling day
Letter to the editor:
It was a Big Relief to read in the Herald last week that there would be a place to go with a non-functioning computer. The Mahaska Communication Group was providing that service in a very easily accessible location, that of the basketball courts south of the Hy Vee, Saturday morning.
I assume that the MCG employees donated their time as a community service to assist with the work. They were all polite, helpful, and appreciative of these coming to make deliveries of old equipment.
Each person making a delivery was given a T shirt commemorating the event, as well as an explanation sheet informing the patrons of the large amount of undesirable elements that would have gone into our environment had they been taken to our landfill.
We highly commend MCG and its leaders for this very visible and important service to our area.
We are also trusting that in the future that this will be repeated, or a site set up where electronic equipment can be brought as needed.
Elmer and Carolyn Veldhuizen

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: William Penn ‘Triple C’ radio host excellent student leader
I am writing to express my support for Nik Rule, host of Triple C on William Penn University’s KIGC radio station. Although the students went a little too far in their public criticism of Dr. Veerasamy on the April 11th Triple C radio show, there were no intentionally racist remarks or sounds.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Voting for ‘gay civil rights bill’ a mistake, writer says
With unprecedented maneuvering, the Democrat-controlled Iowa House added “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the list of protected classes in the Iowa Code, making it illegal to discriminate against gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender individuals.
