OSKALOOSA —
All of the tickets for President Barack Obama’s campaign stop in Oskaloosa have been distributed, an Obama For America official says.
Erin Siedler of the Obama campaign said all tickets for the event at Nelson Pioneer Farm Tuesday have been handed out. She did not say how many have been passed out — those figures are released after the event.
She said parking for the event will be at Oskaloosa High School. She said people can park at 8:30 a.m. for the shuttle ride out to Nelson Pioneer Farm and the doors there will open at 9 a.m.
“We advise people to come early,” she said.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, there was still a line on the 200 block of High Avenue East that stretched for half of a block. Doors opened for ticket distribution at 11 a.m.
Dr. Jim North of William Penn University said he got in line at 11 a.m.
“This is exciting — this is a sitting president,” North said of the Obama event. “I’ve seen two sitting presidents — Paul Kagame (of Rwanda) and President Obama.”
Wanda Gardner, of Oskaloosa, said she got in line at 10:50 a.m.
“I started out about 1 1/2 blocks away,” she said.
“Everybody is very patient,” she said. “There people from all over the place.”
Gardner said some of the people in line near her include three people from Chicago, a woman from Sigourney and a man from Ottumwa.
“This is fun,” she said.
