OSKALOOSA —
Topics related to transportation were discussed at Saturday’s first Eggs & Issues meeting of the year at Smokey Row.
Oskaloosa Mayor Dave Krutzfeldt and Mahaska County Supervisor Greg Gordy talked about the regional airport project. Krutzfeldt noted that there are three possible site locations for the airport. These locations were approved by the South Central Regional Airport Agency for consideration, noted Krutzfeldt. Krutzfeldt said the FAA will evaluate these locations. The South Central Regional Airport Agency would then determine which site is the “number one,” added Krutzfeldt.
Highway 63 was also discussed by Krutzfeldt and Gordy at Saturday’s Eggs & Issues. Krutzfeldt noted the environmental study being done in conjunction with this effort on Highway 63.
Krutzfeldt touched on numerous other topics including roadway projects on Highway 432 and North Green Street, as well as city code enforcement.
Among the topics discussed by Gordy was the idea of mental health being a regional effort between adjoining counties.
County Auditor Sue Brown was also on hand to discuss the particulars of the Jan. 29 special election for the Mahaska County Supervisor seat. Brown talked about voting locations and absentee ballot procedures related to this special election. Republican Mark Doland and Democrat Tom Rielly are each vying for the seat.
