Penn Central Mall finds new ownership

OSKALOOSA — Penn Central Mall became locally owned again this week, as Musco finalized an agreement to purchase the mall.

“Our vision is to maintain and grow the retail activity there in addition to our continued use of part of the building,” said Musco President Joe Crookham. “Penn Central Mall is home to businesses that provide key products and services in our community, and we are optimistic about the future of Oskaloosa. Both the mall’s key location in the central downtown, and its close proximity to our Musco campus contribute to our interest in local ownership.”

“We understand the mall is important to the retail environment in the community and look forward to working with businesses represented in the mall and the entire community to build the future of our community,” said Crookham.

“During the coming months the Musco facility team will work with the mall maintenance group to evaluate needs and develop a comprehensive plan for making improvements,” said Jeff Greenhalgh, Director of Facilities Operations.

“We want to be sure the mall is cleaned and maintained at a high standard to reflect the values of Musco and the community,” said Doug Yates, Vice President of Operations.

Musco will be meeting with mall business owners and managers in the near future to learn about their business plans and ideas. Musco will work with Hawkeye Real Estate to continue their role with retail management.
