OSKALOOSA — OSKALOOSA — The United States Police Canine Association Region 21 recently held its annual Police Dog 1 Certification and Field Trials in Marshalltown on July 26-28, and the Oskaloosa K-9 unit won first place.

Thirty-two teams from Iowa participated in the three day event.  Teams are judged in five areas: obedience, agility, evidence search, suspect search and criminal apprehension.

Oskaloosa Police Officer Gary McClun and K-9 Nash competed in the event and finished in first place overall with a score of 682 out of 700 possible points.

McClun and Nash will compete at the USPCA National Field Trials from Sept. 27 through Oct. 2 in West Des Moines.
