OSKALOOSA —
The District Court Judges from Judicial Sub-District 8A conducted interviews on March 7 with candidates for the District Associate Judge vacancy which was created when Judge Randy DeGeest was appointed to serve as District Court Judge.
The District Court Judges unanimously selected Rose Anne Mefford, of Cedar, as the next District Associate Judge for Sub-District 8A.
Mefford graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in 1991 and received her law degree from the University of Iowa in 1994.
She worked as an Assistant County Attorney in Wapello County from 1995-2001 and 2003-2005. From 2001-2003, she was a partner in Albers and Mefford in Albia.
Mefford was appointed to the office of Mahaska County Attorney in January 2006, was elected in November 2006 and was re-elected November 2010.
She is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Mahaska County Bar Association.
Mefford will assume her duties as Associate District Judge on April 1.
