Hy-Vee honors employees for service

OSKALOOSA — Employees from the Oskaloosa Hy-Vee store are among 2,325 Hy-Vee employees who will be honored for achieving service milestones in 2009.

Hy-Vee’s Service Awards program, now in its 45th year, recognizes employees for continuous service to the company. At a series of eight banquets held in October throughout Hy-Vee’s seven-state operating territory, the company pays tribute to employees reaching service milestones ranging from five to 45 years.

Of those honored this year, almost 665 are celebrating anniversaries of 20 years or more with the company; 17 of them are being honored for 40 or 45 years of service. In addition, nine employees who were recently inducted into the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame as recipients of the 2009 Legendary Customer Service Award, will be honored at the dinners.

Employees celebrating service anniversaries receive customized gifts that increase in value as the years of service increase. In addition, their photos are published in a special souvenir book distributed throughout the company.

Recipients also receive personal congratulations from Hy-Vee Chairman and CEO Ric Jurgens, who poses for a commemorative photo with each Service Award recipient.

“Our success as a company is directly attributed to the efforts of our tenured employees, who come to work each day with one goal in mind – to provide exceptional quality, value and service to customers,” said Jurgens. “It is an honor to attend these dinners and celebrate their milestones with them.”

The 11 Service Award recipients from Oskaloosa were honored at a banquet held Oct. 19 in Des Moines.
