Christmas parade to light up Osky
OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa will be glowing with Christmas spirit Thursday and Friday with several holiday events.
The Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, but there are several events around town that act as a prelude to the parade.
The Iowa Building will be the venue for the children’s art show from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Penn Central Mall will be entertaining you with gospel groups each evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday will feature The McKay Family and Del and Friends. On Friday evening, you will enjoy The Faithful Four and The Rozenboom Trio. Sponsors of the event are the Mall and the Oskaloosa Community Evangelism Committee. The concerts are free.
The Oskaloosa Christian Grade School Gymnasium comes alive with sounds and sights of Christmas Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3 and 4, during the Festival of Christmas Delights — Thursday hours are from 4 to 7 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Warm up with a bowl of soup at the Central United Methodist Church Thursday before the parade from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located on the corner of A Avenue West and North Market Street. A free-will offering will be collected.
Soup and all the fixings will be available at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday before the parade from 5 to 7 p.m. The full meal is $6 for adults and $3 for children. The church is at the beginning of the parade route at 405 High Ave. E.
