OSKALOOSA —
The recent unseasonably warm weather has allowed work crews to complete more work on the new skate park in downtown Oskaloosa.
Work crews poured more concrete Thursday morning for the border around the skate park.
“The decent weather has provided us with opportunity we didn’t think we’d have,” Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation Executive Director Sherry Vavra said.
After the border work is complete, workers will pour concrete in the center section, Vavra said. Work on that section should be complete this week, she added.
“We still have a section left to do after that,” Vavra said. That will be completed in the spring, unless the good weather continues, she added.
Vavra said the skate park grand opening is set for this spring. She said the MCRF Skate Park Committee will meet this month to plan the event.
Vavra said there still remains some work to do on the skate park complex. A gazebo will be built on the site and there will be some landscaping to do in the spring.
