OSKALOOSA — Four water mains have broke this week, causing the Oskaloosa Water Department to work around the clock to get things fixed.
Water Department General Manager Chad Coon said the first water main break happened on Monday at 9 p.m. by a creek near North Sixth Street. Crews responded and worked until 6:30 a.m. the next day, Coon said.
On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., there was another water main break on Terrace Drive. Crews responded and worked until 2 a.m.
For both breaks, crews had to shutdown water for the affected area for some time. Coon said the water had been safe to drink.
On Wednesday night there was another water main break in the Maple Woods subdivision and on Thursday morning there was break in Beacon. Coon said the water is back to all of the areas that had water main breaks and the water is safe.
Coon said it is hard to predict when water main breaks will occur.
“It’s been non-stop around here,” Coon said. “We’ve put a lot of hours in this week.”
