Fire damages house northeast of Oskaloosa
OSKALOOSA — A house fire northeast of Oskaloosa did extensive damage to a vacant house.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1:40 a.m. the Oskaloosa Fire Department responded to a fire at 2369 Kirby Ave. The house, owned by Don Vos, was vacant, and suffered extensive damage to the first two levels, estimated at $70,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the state fire marshal’s office was called to assist.
New Sharon Fire Department, Mahaska Ambulance, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and Oskaloosa Police Department assisted at the scene.
