Ghost Town open through Saturday

OSKALOOSA — Halloween fun can be had tonight through Saturday night at Ghost Town in Beacon.

The elaborate maze of ghouls, goblins, and gory and gruesome entertainment is located south of the Beacon Post Office and opens each night at dark and runs to 9 p.m. Thursday night treats will be given away.

Kenny Linville, of Oskaloosa, co-owns the property with his father, Loren. Linville said Ghost Town has been alive the past 15 years, going from Beacon to Oskaloosa and now back in Beacon.

Linville and others were busy reassembling parts of Ghost Town Monday afternoon that were damaged during the high winds Sunday. He singled out John Moses, Jimmy Thomas, Bill Williams, Ron Cadwell, Howard Construction and Doug’s 4-Wheeler as helping to make Ghost Town a reality this year.

Ghost Town is free, but will accept donations, Linville said. For those brave enough to walk the darken halls of horror, beware of wet pants.

“We even had a few that peed their pants,” Linville said of some young kids that went through Ghost Town when it first opened this year. “Our goal is 12 this year. And last year we only had 10.”

Linville said it takes four or five to run the house. He said if somebody wanted to donate scary Halloween costumes, displays or lights for Ghost Town, he would accept them.

Moses, who was on hand Monday afternoon, said he has a fun time entertaining.

“We have fun doing it,” Moses said. “It’s cheap entertainment and gives kids something to do.”
