FREMONT — The fourth annual Greater Southeast Iowa Tractor Ride is coming soon, with more than 100 tractors, riders and support staff leaving Fremont at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, for an overnight stay at Williamsburg.
Breaks along the way will be at the What Cheer Methodist Church mid-morning and Millersburg for lunch. All the tractors will be parked around the Williamsburg square Thursday late afternoon to early evening.
Friday morning, the riders head back to Fremont for a Smokey Trails BBQ dinner via North English (morning break), Keswick (lunch break) and the Lancaster Christian Church (afternoon break).
The tractors are grouped and travel according to speed: 10 mph, 14 mph and 18 mph, with the 18 mph group leading the way.
“This isn’t a ride for antique tractors, it’s a ride for fun,” says co-sponsor Fred Neely, of rural Delta.
Neely and fellow co-sponsor Lee Clark, of Fremont, are still accepting entries for the upcoming ninth Fall Ride, Sept. 9-11. It will begin and end in Milton, with overnight stops in Kirksville, Mo., and Centerville.
