OSKALOOSA — Mahaska County Emergency Management will be hosting a workshop focusing on Biosecurity for agriculture producers, which will be held July 6 at the ISU Extension office, 212 N. I St., Oskaloosa.

The workshop is designed to provide classroom and hands on training for response to a foreign animal disease event that would require action by producers, local emergency responders, regional veterinarians, state departments and federal agencies.

This workshop is being offered in six southeast Iowa communities due to the partnership of five organizations including the Region 5 Homeland Security Board, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa Beef Industry Council. The workshops will be held June 24 in Mount Pleasant, June 25 in Muscatine, June 29 in Ottumwa, June 30 in Centerville, July 1 in Chariton, and July 6 in Oskaloosa. Each workshop will run from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There is no charge to attend the event. Area agriculture producers and local emergency responders are encouraged to attend this workshop. Additional information is available through your local county emergency management coordinator, the sponsors listed above, or by calling (319) 213-5872.
