OSKALOOSA —
The Oskaloosa police and fire departments need your help to solve three dumpster fires that occurred this past week.
At 5:44 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, the Oskaloosa Fire Department received a call of a dumpster fire in the alley behind 203 High Ave. E.
Prior to firefighters’ arrival on scene, the fire breached a boarded window and caused an estimated $30,000 damage. In addition to this fire, a 55-gallon trash can was also ignited at the intersection of the east/west alley behind Hammer Medical Supply and the north /south alley east of the Edward Jones office on High Avenue.
On the same date at 8:12 p.m., the fire department received another call about a dumpster fire at the intersection of J Avenue and Santa Clara Street.
The Oskaloosa Fire Department and the Oskaloosa Police Department are actively investigating these three fires. At this time, police and fire officials are asking anyone who might have been in the area of the downtown square on Oct. 11 around 5 to 5:44 a.m. and/or in the area of J Avenue and Santa Clara around 8 p.m. and has possible information regarding these fires to contact the Oskaloosa Police Department at (641) 672-2577 or the Oskaloosa Fire Department at (641) 673-3541.
