MHP Birthing Center partners with First National Bank Midwest for baby’s name in lights
OSKALOOSA — First National Bank Midwest is helping the Mahaska Health Partnership Birthing Center welcome babies to the world.
Approximately two years ago, First National Bank Midwest agreed to partner with the MHP Birthing Center to display newborn baby’s names on their marquee.
“It is a small thing we can do to help mark this joyous event in people’s lives,” said First National Bank Vice President Jill Ewing.
The MHP Birthing Center nurses say that many patients take advantage of the service and often go to the bank to get a picture of their baby’s name in lights.
“The program started after one of our nurses had a grandchild born out of state,” MHP Birthing Center Director Chyann McGlothlen said. “She and her family thought it was very neat to have the baby’s name on display and she wanted to bring something similar to the area.
“The first step was to find a business with a marquee willing to participate and First National Bank Midwest jumped at the opportunity,” McGlothlen explained. “We just want to offer our gratitude on behalf of the MHP Birthing Center and our patients. This little piece of a child’s history wouldn’t be possible without the bank’s support.”
Jesse and Katie Johnston, of Oskaloosa, appreciated the service provided by First National Bank Midwest.
“It was fun to announce the birth of our son to the community,” Johnston said. “We had many friends and neighbors who said they had seen the marquee, which only increased the congratulatory messages we got at such a fun time for our family.”
