OSKALOOSA —
As the mercury in the thermometer drops, the need for winter clothes in Mahaska County grows and the Klothes Kloset is accepting donations for their winter coat drive.
The Klothes Kloset, 308 Fifth Ave. W., has taken over the United Way’s annual winter coat drive.
“This is the first year we’re heading it up,” Klothes Kloset Manager Tonya Rice said. “The United Way wanted us to do it.”
The winter coat drive began in the first part of November and it runs through the winter, she said.
The coats are free, Rice said.
Besides winter coats, The Klothes Kloset also has mittens, stocking caps and snow pants for both children and adults.
“We mostly need kids’ clothes and plus sizes,” Rice said.
Rice said that demands for winter clothing has been heavy.
“It’s been a good deal of people,” she said.
The Klothes Kloset accepts winter clothing donations. The clothes can be new or gently used.
“You can bring them here and there’s a drop box at Maple Ridge,” Rice said.
The Klothes Kloset’s hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
