Nelson Cook Jr., 63, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at his home in Oskaloosa.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 18, 1949, in Oskaloosa, the son of Nelson and Laura Rice Cook. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1967. Following graduation, Nelson enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he worked construction in the Oskaloosa area. Lastly, he worked in the maintenance department at William Penn University. Nelson enjoyed playing pool and cards, fishing, and reading.
He is survived by his mother: Laura Cook, of Oskaloosa; 3 brothers: Josh (and Cathy) Cook, of Sanford, Fla., Jeff Cook, of Knoxville, and Carl (and Tammy) Cook, of Osage Beach, Mo.; 3 sisters: Peggy (and Mick) Kauzlarich, of Centerville, Arcey Davis, of Capre Fair, Mo., and Suzann Cook (and Emory Gay), of Rose Hill; a special friend: Rebecca Sexaeur; and 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from 12:30 – 4 p.m. at the V.F.W. in Oskaloosa. As was his wish his body has been cremated and no burial is planned at this time.
