RONNIE COCHRANE

DEC. 3, 1949 — JAN. 23, 2013

OSKALOOSA — Ronnie Cochrane, 63, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at his home in Oskaloosa. 

He was born Dec. 3, 1949, in Oskaloosa, the son of Walter and Eva Tolls Cochrane. Early on he worked with his dad farming and working in a saw mill. On May 2, 1975, he was united in marriage to Melody Olney at Kirksville, Mo. Ronnie held various positions throughout his life including: Clow Valve, PAMCO, delivering papers, driving semi, and carpentry. He also helped care for his ailing family members. Lastly he was working at McCall Residential in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed hunting, tractor pulls, listening to country western and blue grass gospel music, antique John Deere tractors, and visiting with friends. He was a member and faithful attender of the Eddyville United Methodist Church in Eddyville. Early in life he was a member of the Moose Lodge in Oskaloosa. He delighted in spending time with his family.

His family includes his wife of over 37 years, Melody Cochrane, of Oskaloosa; five children, Jason Cochrane, of Oskaloosa, Lisa Cochrane, of Oskaloosa, Mickey Cochrane, of Oskaloosa, Justin (and Bridget) Cochrane, of Newton, and Joe (and Jennifer) Coder, of Ankeny; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Kirsten, Derek, Isaac, Mickey, NaVada, Schyler, and Seth; his sister, Doris Walsh, of Montezuma; many cousins including Clara West, with whom he was very close; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law; a brother, Dennis Cochrane; and a sister in law, Crystal Cochrane.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jason Gutzmer officiating. Burial will be in the Woods Cemetery near Lacey. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday after 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Ronnie Cochrane Memorial Fund.
