OSKALOOSA — Ralph L. DeBruin, 90, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. 

He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Marion County, the son of M.C. and Anna Klyn DeBruin. On March 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Wilma Dahm at Leighton. Together they farmed from 1950 until 1978 when he and Wilma moved to Oskaloosa. Ralph loved nature and being in the out of doors. He was a member of the Central Reformed Church for 85 years.

His family includes his wife of over 65 years, Wilma DeBruin, of Oskaloosa; his son, Larry DeBruin, of Oskaloosa; a grandson, David DeBruin, of Arizona; and a sister, Doretha (and Homer) Hasselman, of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leroy Eugene DeBruin; and two brothers, Paul and Larry DeBruin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Don DeGlopper officiating. Burial will be in the Black Oak Cemetery, north of Leighton. Visitation will open Friday after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present from 6-8 p.m. to greet friends and family members. Memorials may be made to the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter.
