CEDAR RAPIDS —
William D. Jordan, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home, Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, following a brief illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m.. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second Street S.E., Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial was at Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Friends called at the funeral home.
William is survived by five daughters: Judy Earls, Keokuk, Rosemary (Tim) Vandenbrink, George, Terri Rivera, Indianapolis, Ind., Mary Lou (Mitch DeLarm) Cantrell, Cedar Rapids, and Sandra (Neil) Cole, Perkins, Okla.; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also a brother: Elwood (Joann) Jordan, Cedar Rapids; and a sister: Bonnie Beadle, Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen, his parents, Prosper and Mabel (Williams) Jordan, brother Eugene “Jiggs” Jordan and sister, Betty Amber.
William was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Granger and came to Cedar Rapids from Oskaloosa when he was 19 years old. He married Ellen I. Fleming on Oct. 25, 1961, in Galena, Ill. She died June 11, 2005. Bill was employed by the city of Cedar Rapids Sanitation Department for 30 years, retiring in 1991. Bill enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and playing pool when he was younger. He loved watching his “Westerns” on television. A special thank you to John and Laurie for taking wonderful care of our Dad. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Mercy.
