OSKALOOSA —
Gloria Woodard, 66, of Oskaloosa passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
Gloria Jean Woodard was born March 25, 1945, in Orange City to Henry and Adaline Sanow Vander Vegte. She was a 1963 graduate of LeMars High School. She married Norlan “Woody” Woodard, March 14, 1965. They made their home in LeMars until 1986 when Woody took a position at Pella Corp. Gloria began working at Pella Corp in 1988 and retired after 18 years in 2006. Gloria was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon and with the Presbyterian Women.
Gloria will be remembered for being a wonderful mother, wife and grandma. She was quick to make friends; she cherished her numerous friends and the time they spent together. Gloria was an immaculate housekeeper and she also enjoyed reading and flower gardening.
Gloria’s family includes her husband, Norlan Allen Woodard Sr., of Oskaloosa; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Norlan Allen Woodard Jr., of Des Moines, Robbie Dean Woodard, of Ottumwa, and Rickie Lee and Melinda Woodard, of Iowa City; six grandchildren: C.J., Brandon, Tyler, Brice, Lindsey and Eliza; two great-grandchildren: Quincy and Quinton; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gary and Ester Vander Vegte, of California, and Kim and Malea Penne, of LeMars.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Morey officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial of her ashes will be at a later date near LeMars. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Monday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
