Tony “T-Bone” Lee Atchison, age 44, of Albia, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Tony was born Oct. 7, 1967, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He married Loresa Atchison on May 20, 1989. He later married his wife, Brenda, on July 3, 2010, in Ottumwa.
Tony graduated from Eddyville-Blakesburg High School, Class of 1986. He worked for Pella Windows for many years, before working for Vermeer and RELCO. He also worked for Witt Auto Salvage for many years.
Tony loved working on vehicles of all kinds, especially demolition derby cars with the MOPAR EXPRESS derby team, which he was a part of. He ran in many derbies himself, and to the derby world, he was a legend. He always enjoyed a good game of poker, and followed sports, including the Dallas Cowboys, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Iowa state high school wrestling tournament every year. Anyone who knew Tony knew that he enjoyed being the center of attention. Tony also loved his family very much, and the time spent with them.
Tony is survived by his wife, Brenda Atchison, of Albia; parents, Mark and Nancy Witt, of Eddyville; seven children, Jeremy (Ashley) Atchison of Kirkville, Angie (Cody) Davis, of Pella, Kelsey Atchison, of Bloomfield, Heather (Mike) Hindman, of Albia, Jeremy (Barb) Weeda, of Tingley, Lucas Lynch, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Riley Sharpe, of Albia; nine grandchildren, Chase, Jaylnn, Hunter, Halle, Houston, Eric, Shaley, Kody, and Lacey; and four siblings, Christine (Layton) Bond, Calvin (Peggy) Atchison, Kim Atchison, and April (Jammie) McKim. Tony is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents; an uncle, Richard; and an aunt, Patty.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Christian Church in Eddyville, with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Corners Cemetery near Eddyville.
Visitation will open to the public at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Christian Church in Eddyville, with Tony’s family present from 6-8 Tuesday evening.
