OSKALOOSA —
Patrick Howard Williams, 61, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at his home in Oskaloosa.
He was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Oskaloosa, the son of Kenzie M. and Sherry A. Gorman Williams. He graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1969. On June 26, 1985, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Pottorff at Oskaloosa. He worked various places throughout his life including: Pella Corporation, Paslode, The Door Shop, and the Oskaloosa Herald. Lastly he worked at Wal-Mart in Oskaloosa until ill health forced his retirement in March of 2012. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Oskaloosa. Pat was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He enjoyed grilling and the out of doors. He delighted in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Pat was always willing to help out family and friends.
Pat’s family includes his wife of over 27 years, Becky Williams, of Oskaloosa; two children, Chelsea Williams (and Anthony Skinner), of Ottumwa, and Todd Williams (and Ryan Ruby), of Oskaloosa; a stepson, Josh (and Stacey) Myers, of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Jeremy Williams and Elizabeth “Ellie” Skinner; two step grandchildren, Blake and Ty Myers; two sisters, Cindy (and Mike) French, of Dahinda, Ill., and Debbie (and Tom) Walling, of Oskaloosa; a brother: Mike Williams, of Stanhope, N.J.; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Pottorff, of Attica; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leanne Bregar, of Bussey, Laurie and Kevin James, of Knoxville, and Kenny Pottorff; his aunt, Pat Noller, of Webster City; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Denise Mason; and his father-in-law, Orval “Pete” Pottorff.
Visitation will begin Monday morning after 9 in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. As was Pat’s wish his body will be cremated following the visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Memorials may be made to the Patrick Williams Memorial Fund.
