NEW SHARON — Ray Pargeon, 65 of New Sharon passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. Interment will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation will begin after noon Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon Fire and Rescue or Lacey United Methodist Church.  Ray Eugene Pargeon, son of Vernon and Pauline (Sanders) Pargeon was born on Feb. 13, 1947 in Montezuma, Iowa. He was a 1965 graduate of Montezuma High School. On January 17, 1970, Ray was united in marriage to Betty Septer at the Lacey United Methodist Church In Lacey, Iowa. To this union one daughter was born, Stacy. Ray worked as a welder at Pamco in Oskaloosa from 1965 to 1972 and a short time at Vermeer in Pella. Ray purchased a farm near Union Mills in 1972 when he began farming. In 1995, Ray began working at Montezuma Manufacturing until his health forced him to retire in 2005. Ray enjoyed watching basketball games; especially Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones, 4-wheeling, and collecting; toy tractors, cars and semi-trucks. However his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many school activities. He also enjoyed coffee time at Pronto and lunch at East Market Deli in New Sharon and Hometown Café in Montezuma inventing the “Ray Special”.

His memory will be honored by his wife, Betty Pargeon of New Sharon; his daughter, Stacy (Terry) Green of Oskaloosa; his four grandchildren, Collin, Cody, Andrew and Cameron Green all of Oskaloosa; his sister,  Donna (Ivan) Klein of Montezuma; brother-in-law, Les Septer of New Sharon; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul Pargeon; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Isabel Septer; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby (Fred) Alderman and sister-in-law, Georgia “Pud” Septer.
