OSKALOOSA —
Bruce Sage, 72, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday evening, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa.
Bruce E.C. Sage, son of Merton W. and Ruth (Badger) Sage, was born, July 13, 1940, in West Fairlee, Vt. Bruce furthered his education at Vermont Technological College and then studied for four years at Bible Christian Union in Brooklyn, N.Y. Bruce served as a missionary in Innsbruck, Austria, the following four years. He married Mary L. Lins, June 13, 1970, in Dunkirk, N.Y. Bruce and Mary settled in Pleasant Valley, Vermont where Bruce established Pleasant Valley Printer, a printing company. In 1983, the family moved to Oskaloosa to be closer to Mary’s family. Bruce again opened a printing company, Sage Publication. Through the years, Bruce also worked for AGA Glass Repair, the Vernon Company, and in the printing department at Musco Lighting. He was a member of the Brethren Church. He enjoyed writing, reading, gardening and fishing.
His family includes his wife, Mary, of Oskaloosa; his sons, Bruce (Jill) Sage II, of Lacona; and Andrew (Cathy) Sage, of Spofford, N.H.; five grandchildren: Megan, Hannah, Isaac, Ian and Emery; and sisters: Cordia Greene, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Judith Sage, of West Lebanon, Vt.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
As was Bruce’s wish, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at Ainsworth Cemetery in Ainsworth. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
