KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
Jeanne I. Williams passed away Feb. 23, 2013, in Kalamazoo, Mich., after a year of declining health.
Miss Williams was born on Jan. 27, 1923, in Oskaloosa, daughter of Harry W. and Laura (Laney) Williams. She celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends just a month before her death. She moved to Kalamazoo in 1945. She attended Penn College in Oskaloosa and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1947. She was an executive secretary at The Upjohn Company from 1947 until early retirement in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents in 1963 and 1968; three sisters G. Harriett Gear, of Paw Paw, in 1985, her husband, Harold, in 1988; Vera L. Williams, of Kalamazoo, in 1986; and Juanita M. Taylor, of Kalamazoo, in 1996; her husband, Dr. Harold C., in 1970; her friend A. W. Schneider, of Tucson, Ariz., in 2002.
Surviving are her niece Linnea D. Taylor, of Burlington, Vt.; grandniece Laura M. Gardner, her husband Ned and daughter Alyson, of Morristown, N.J.; grandnephew Jamieson W. Gump, his wife Cheryl and children Brittany and Joshua, of Alexandria, Va.; grandnephew Dr. Brooks B. Gump and his wife Dr. Linda and children Amelia and Avery, of Oswego, N.Y.; niece Joann G. McMarray and her husband David, of Otsego, and children Cheryl and James; and nephew Howard Gear and his wife Carol, of Las Vegas, Nev.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no services. On Wednesday, April 10, from 3 to 5 p.m., there will be a time of gathering for friends to meet the family at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A private interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, at a later date.
