WAUKEE —
The Transform Academy gymnasts JO (Junior Olympic) Compulsory Team competed on Nov. 3-4 at the Harvest Hoedown at the Sportsplex West facility.
For gymnastics scoring placement/achievement awards they go out half the number of competitors plus one in each age division.
Level 4
• Lydia Van Veldhuizen — 10th place All-Around out of 17 competitors — Age 7 & under
• Rylee Ebelsheiser — 6th place AA out of 11 competitors — Age 8b
• Faith DeRonde — 9th place AA out of 17 competitors — Age 9a
• Mallory Vander Meyden — 10th place AA out of 20 competitors — Age 10
Level 5
• Emma Dawson — 6th place AA out of 13 competitors — Age 9a
• Emily Schutz — 11th place AA out of 17 competitors — Age 10a
Level 6
• Chloe’ Sarver — 3rd place AA out of 9 competitors — Age 9 & under
• Collette Edwards — 4th place AA out of 8 competitors — Age 11
• Kennady Klein (Pella) — 3rd place AA out of 8 competitors — Age 11
The Level 6 girls placed thirrd as a team. In order for a team to place, they must take the top three scores from each gymnast at their level. Considering the Level 6’s had to use all three scores, this is a great achievement for them.
Gymnasts must receive an All-Around score of 31.000 in order to qualify for the state meet in December. All the girls from Transform have now qualified for the state meet which is also a great accomplishment for the girls and their head coach, Meghan Slay.
The team’s next competition is this weekend Nov. 10-11 at the Blackhawk Classic Celebration of Stars Meet in Waterloo, hosted by Blackhawk Gymnastics. For details and more information on Transform Academy gymnastics, email transform.gymnastics@gmail.com, call (641) 295-1434, or by stopping by the facility at 2209 Park in University Park (former Vennard College gym). Transform also offers other activities such as dance, cheer and tumbling.
