DAVENPORT/MILAN. Ill. —
Cameron Foster narrowly missed the top-10 as he led the William Penn men's bowling team at the ISYL Leatherneck Classic Saturday and Sunday.
William Penn placed 10th out of 30 teams with 9,134 pins in six regular games and four sets of Bakers. By falling short of the top eight, the squad did not advance to bracket competition.
Robert Morris (Ill.) topped the field in qualifying with 10,204 pins, but No. 3 seed Wichita State defeated the Eagles 2-0 in the finals for the title.
Cody Clayton of Lindenwood (Mo.) JV B was the top individual in qualifying with an amazing 254.5 clip, including a perfect 300 game and another 299 showing (1,527 pins).
Foster owned a 222.8 average to placed 12th out of 308 competitors. Brandon Barboza was next with a 206.0 clip, while Piet Schaeffer averaged 202.7 pins.
Drew Balta was next with a 183.5 mark. The top four bowlers each rolled all six games.
Conan Mackey (So., Bray, Ireland, Public Accounting) posted a 181.3 average in three games, while Kyle Clark averaged 197.5 pins in two contests.
Nathan Namanny concluded the individual scoring with a 165 in his lone game.
William Penn is off two weeks, returning to action Dec. 1-2 at the Warhawk Open in Madison and Sun Prairie, Wis.
