Oskaloosa softball coach Jay Harms named District Coach of Year

OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa softball coach Jay Harms has been selected as the 4A Southeast Iowa District Coach of the Year.

Harms, who just completed his 27th year at the helm of the Oskaloosa softball program and his 34th year as a head softball coach, led the 2012 Indians to a 23-13 overall record and a Little Hawkeye Conference championship.

Harms will be honored at the Iowa Girls Coaches’ All-Star games, held at the Waukee High School Softball Complex July 23. The ceremony for District Coach of the Year will take place following game one, around 5:15 p.m. Harms will also be honored that night for achieving his 700th career win this past season between games 2 and 3, at approximately 7:15 p.m.
