Oskaloosa freshmen lose to Chariton

OSKALOOSA — Chariton scored 40 points in the second quarter and went on to be Oskaloosa 52-22 in freshman football action last Friday.

Blake Palmer scored the Indians’ first touchdown in the second quarter on a 5-yard run.

Oskaloosa added TDs in the fourth quarter as Palmer went in from 4 yards out and Joe Sterner flipped a 3-yard scoring toss to Wade Voutrabek.

Palmer ran the ball for 108 yards while Andrew Bonilla had 39 yards rushing. Blake Howard and Andrew Silvers had 22 and 21 yards rushing respectively as Adam Carriker had 14 yards on the ground. Lucas Kelderman had one carry for three yards. Dawson Sarver and Sterner both had negative 5 and negative 7 yards rushing respectively.

Sterner was 2 of 4 passing for 42 yards and Carriker was 1-for-10 for 28 yards and had an interception.

Caleb Schlesselman caught two passes for 67 yards while Voutrabek had his one catch for three yards.

Howard and Sterner led the defense with five tackles apiece as Schlesselman had four tackles. Getting in on three tackles was John Burke while Carriker and Bonilla both had two tackles. Collecting one tackle each were Voutrabek, Sarver, Kelderman, Austin Scholes, Logan Nord, Aaron Johnson, Michael Henderson, Zayne McKay and Mason Shrader.
