OSKALOOSA —
The Oskaloosa football team held its awards banquet Nov. 9 at the George Daily Auditorium.
Indians coach Mark Schilb announced letter winners, participant awards as well as academic all-district and all-district selections.
Brandon Strasser was named the recipient of the Benz Award for the team’s Most Vaulable Player while Nate Van Veldhuizen received the Brent Blanchard Award for the best running back. The Jim Peters Award for best offensive lineman went to Jake Wills and the Most Improved Player was Jared Pace. The Special Teams MVP was Tyce Sarver while the Fox Hole Award for players the others would want to protect them the most were Strasser, Patrick Flaherty and Drew Richmond. Strasser also picked up the Apache Award for the team’s best defensive player.
Wills picked up the Strength and Conditioning Award while the Ken Heinle Award for Academics went to Strasser. The Dave Rorpke Award for Core Values went to Richmond and Jonah Renter.
All-district awards were given to Strasser, Wills, Van Veldhuizen, Austin Redlich, Dane Jones and Ryder Curtis while receiving honorable mention all-district selections were Sarver, Pace, Keoki Gibson, Mason Wisse and Brett Kindley.
Earning academic all-district honors were Richmond, Strasser, Wills, Redlich, Kindley, Curtis, Van Veldhuizen, Colton Mitterer, Logan Ridenour, Joe VerSteegh, Drea Lamb, Cody Tuttle, Dylan Tuttle and Mitchell Schaffner.
Earning letters this season were Flaherty, Redlich, Sarver, Strasser, Ridenour, Renter, Jones, Mitterer, Wills, Gibson, Richmond, VerSteegh, Kindley, Wisse, Lamb, Curtis, Pace, Cody Tuttle, Dylan Tuttle, Schaffner, Zach Mich, Jordan Lowry, Zach Mateer, Cody Bossard, Trevor Mabee, Spencer Medlin, Jesse VanDalen, Stephen Shannon, Andrew Landgrebe, Ki-Jana DeJong, Jimmy Brown, Max Johnson and managers Bridgette Richards, Colleen Hanna, Jordan Bemis, Bobbi Fogle, Nicole Redlich and Alisha Comstock.
Participant awards were given to Hector Mendes, Nick Waters, Blake Hols, Hunter Simmons, Jeremy Schneider, Brandon Crile, Andy Ruiz, Darin Yang, Ben Boston, Zach Randau, Cody Jones, Owen Grubb, Brandon DenHartog, Damuel Ginaven, Jordan Silvers, Saif Grafke, Ryan Reiter, Kyle Brown, Riley Coniglio, Ethan Huyser, Philip Ringgenberg and TJ Boyle.
Oskaloosa finished the season with a 2-7 record.
