WEST BRANCH —
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont had a 3-2 record at the West Branch Tournament on Saturday, coming in second as a result.
The Rockets, now 5-3 on the season, lost both of their matches to West Branch, including 25-15, 25-23 in the championship match.
“The Rockets played very competitive at the tournament,” Rockets coach Gladys Genskow said. “We faced some tough teams that allowed us to gain experience we needed to improve. They (Bears) are a very good ranked team and we found out many weaknesses that we will need to improve on to be at that level by the end of the season. I am happy with the overall play the girls put forth on Saturday. They kept pushing for the win all day long, but fell short to West Branch.”
Paige Shafer contributed 74 assists and 17 digs as Tasha Alexander had 39 kills, 37 digs and five aces.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont’s next match is Thursday at Twin Cedars.
