MONTEZUMA —
Zach Gibson rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown rto lead Montezuma to a 20-6 win over Belle Plaine Friday night.
“Obviously when you can start your year off with a win it is a great feeling,” Braves coach Keith Siestra said. “ It was an important win for our guys and we look to build our program and the guys really took a lot of pride in starting things out right tonight.”
Mitch Stevens ran for 67 yards as Kane Barker scored on a 1-yard TD run.
Gibson completed 6 of 9 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, which went to Mitch Gibson. Barker, Mitch Gibson and Coleton Tompkins all had two catches for 11, 27 and 7 yards respectively.
Defensivley, the Braves were led by Barker with 11 tackles while adding two intrceptions, and Bryan Gregson ahd 10 stops. Matthew Duggan had a fumble recovery.
Montezuma travels to BCLUW this week.
