Brian wins twice at Fuel Altered Nationals at ERP

EDDYVILLE — The 7th Annual Fuel Altered Nationals at Eddyville Raceway Park came to a close Saturday night.

As always it was a exciting day of racing several cars made passes in the high 3.9 range.

In the finals of the Fuel Altered B class, Allan Middendorf faced off against Steve Elliot. Both drivers had almost identical reaction time, but Middendorf made it to the finish line first to claim the win.

Fuel Altered Class A had Terry Brian, all the way from New London Texas, going against John Brousard from Lake Charlies, La. The race was over before it even started as Brousards was staging, a broken lower A arm was found which if he had launch would’ve led to a wreck, giving Brian the win and a single. Brian could’ve made a easy pass, saved parts and not chance breaking anything, but instead made a full pass for the fans running 4.009 at 181.89 mph.

In the Nostalgia Drag No. 1 class for 6.50 and faster cars, Tim Sparks faced off against Wayne Briggs Sr. Sparks had the better reaction time, but Briggs ran right on his dial-in and claimed the win.

Kaila Wheeldon went against Taylor Grimm in the Jr. Dragster class. Grimm had the better reaction time and ran closer to her dial-in to get the win.

Before action could be completed in all the classes, a short rain shower came in with Sportsman and Nostalgia Drag No. 2 finals and the Pro and Super Pro classes semi-finals races cancelled and the money being split between the racers still in.

Sunday was a busy day of races as in the Jr. Dragster Consi class. Chase VanSant made the finals going agianst Brooke Baarda. Both drivers had almost identical reaction time, and at the finish line, Baarda claimed the win.

In the Super Pro class, Jared Micetich was in the finals going against JD Brown. Both drivers ran right on their dial-in and with Brown having a .0055 package, took the win over Micetich.

Jacqueline Blackwell had a good weekend as she made the finals both days. She went against Pam Vogel, who had the edge on the reaction time, but at the finish line, Blackwell put together a bettr package and claimed the win.

This weekend will be test-n-tune on Friday and Saturday will be Motorcycle Mania featuring just motorcycles. Also being held will be Warriors Across Iowa as motorcycle riders meet all across Iowa for a bike ride toward Eddyville as a way to raise funds for The Wounded Warrior Project.
