Report: Sash’s ban upheld by NFL office

OSKALOOSA — New York Giants safety Tyler Sash’s four-game suspension was not overturned after a meeting at the league offices in New York, according to a Monday night report in the Newark News-Ledger.

The 24-year-old Sash, a native of Oskaloosa and former Iowa star, was suspended by the league for the first four games of the regular season for using a banned substance. He met Monday with NFL comissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the case.

The league had already denied his appeal. He was seeking an explanation from the league about why it would suspend him for using a prescription a doctor gave him to combat anxiety while speaking.

“I’m just going in there open-minded and anything that comes of it is meant to be,” Sash told The Associated Press beforehand. “I’m the type of person, I’m going to continue on ... If I get four games, it’s a lesson learned.”

Sash left Sunday’s practice when bone spurs in his left ankle locked up his foot, but expects to play Wednesday in the preseason finale.
