OSKALOOSA —
After many years of raising the American Flag at the Oskaloosa varsity football games, the American Legion Post 34 has decided to turn that responsibility over to Boy Scout Troop 77 of Oskaloosa.
As a tribute to the American Legion Post 34, their members and to all veterans, are invited to be guests at Friday’s home game against Keokuk.
There wlll be a “Changing of the Guard” ceremony in which past members of the American Legion Post 34 who have raised the flag in past years, turn that responsibility over the Boy Scout Troop 77 to start the new “Tradition.”
All American Legion Post 34 members and all local Veterans will be admitted to the game free of charge. Each member and veteran should wear either their American Legion uniform or clothing that would represent their branch of service as a way to recognize them on this night of honor.
Any Post 34 members and any veteran who plan to attend this ceremony are asked to sign up at the American Legion Post 34 building in Oskaloosa, or call Oskaloosa Actvities Director Kevin Pederson at (641) 673-4421 to receive a pass to come to the game.
