Oskaloosa girls earn overall High Point Awards
OSKALOOSA — Brittany Martin, age 12, and Aubrey Miller, age 10, both from Oskaloosa, earned Overall High Point Swimming Awards for their age divisions this past weekend at the U.S.A. Swimming-Central Iowa Aquatics Fall Mixer.
The swim meet was a 25-yard pool held at Valley High School in West Des Moines. It was a two-day meet held on Oct. 23-24.
The girls competed against 173 swimmers. They competed against Ames, Bettendorf, Cedar Rapids, Central Iowa Aquatics, Circle Swim Aquatics, Des Moines Swim Federation, Iowa Flyers-Iowa City, Mason City and the USS Destroyers Swim Club.
Martin competed in the 11-12 age division. her results were second in the 200 individual medley (2:35.62), second in the 50 freestyle (28.53), second in the 50 butterfly (32.63), third in the 500 freestyle (6:15.65), third in the 100 backstroke (1:12.13) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:03.25.
Miller competed in the 9-10 age division. Her results were first in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.56), second in the 50 backstroke (37.24), second in the 100 freestyle (1:11.97) and third in the 50 freestyle (32.19).
